Discover Why We’re One of the Best Christmas Tree Lots in Utah!

Get ready to find your perfect Christmas tree at Glover Nursery! Our Utah Christmas tree lot opens the week of Thanksgiving and closes on December 24th. We offer a wide variety of fresh-cut trees to suit every home and style. And, if you are looking for a living tree to plant in your yard after the holiday, we have a wide variety of live trees available, too.

For the Fresh-Cut, real Christmas trees, you’ll find options for Alpine Fir, Grand Fir, Douglas Fir, Nordmann Fir, and Noble Fir trees. Each type has unique features, from soft needles, and delicious aromas to strong branches for holding ornaments. And if you want that magical, snowy look we can add a paper-based flock to any tree on our lot!  The flock is non-toxic and biodegradable, which means it is safe for kids and pets.

All Christmas trees at Glover Nursery are hand-picked by our very own Ryan Glover and come from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, known for its rich soil and great farming. All our trees are grown on dedicated tree farms, run by families that have been growing Christmas trees for generations.  Each tree at Glover Nursery is freshly cut and the highest-quality, USDA Premium grade. They’ve been grown with care, the average height tree taking 6 to 10 years to reach the perfect height for your home.

need help choosing your fresh cut christmas tree

If you prefer a Live Christmas Tree, you’ll enjoy the added benefit of being able to plant it after the holidays. These trees come with their root ball intact, allowing them to flourish outdoors once the season ends. Just remember, live trees should be kept inside for no more than five days to ensure success after planting.

When selecting your tree, think about its future size. Some conifers can grow up to 50 feet tall! Choose a dwarf variety, or a narrow columnar variety, if you have limited space.

Look for a healthy tree with vibrant needles, keep in mind that it is perfectly normal for conifers to drop some needles over the fall and winter months.  However, it should only be the interior needles.  If you are looking at a living tree that is losing needles on the ends of the branches, that tree is likely in distress and would not be a good option for a living Christmas tree.

Don’t forget to measure your space. Living trees come with root balls, making them taller and wider than cut trees. For this reason, you will want to choose a living tree that is in a container and not B&B (balled in burlap).  Keep this in mind when measuring your space.  The space under the branches is perfect for tucking in some gifts.

Remember, you’ll need to care for your tree both indoors and out. Keep the root ball cool and moist while inside. After the holidays, gradually reintroduce it to outdoor temperatures before planting.

EXPERT TIP: When choosing a Live Christmas tree you’ll want to dig your hole to plant it before the ground freezes.  Then, after you’ve acclimated it back to winter conditions, you can just pop it in the hole, easy peasy.

With proper care, your living Christmas tree can become a lasting part of your landscape and a visual reminder of the joy you had over the holiday season. It’s a gift that keeps on giving!

Yes, fresh-cut Christmas trees can be good for the environment when sourced sustainably as they are here at our Christmas tree lot. Our hand-selected trees are grown by farmers on dedicated tree farms, where new trees are planted to replace the ones that are cut. As it takes years to grow a Christmas Tree, the natural growing and farming process helps to absorb carbon dioxide, enrich soil biodiversity, support local ecosystems, and provide habitat for wildlife. You can learn more in this blog post.

Additionally, real trees are biodegradable and can be recycled into mulch, reducing waste. Even the snowy flock we use is biodegradable, so no matter which selection you choose, you can feel good about the environmental impact.

Plus, many cities offer tree recycling programs that turn your tree into mulch for public parks.  So feel good about your fresh-cut tree!
