How to Buy Mulch in Bulk

Buying mulch in large amounts can save you money and time when sprucing up your garden. When buying in bulk:

  1. Measure the length and width of your space. Using our Bulk Mulch Calculator, input those measurements along with the depth you desire for the product coverage to calculate how much your space requires.
  2. Choose the product that fits your needs.
  3. Bring your truck or trailer over for us to load. OR, if you need more than 3 yards……
  4. Fill out the Bulk Delivery Request form with your preferred product and calculated volume.
  5. Confirm the order when we call to go over details.
  6. Get ready to spend an afternoon in the garden!

In general, buying bulk will be more cost-effective than buying the same product in bags.  For example, a cubic yard of bulk Soil Pep costs $64.99 while the same volume of Soil Pep purchased in bags would cost $94.37, before tax. That being said, many people find the bag option appealing for the ease of moving the product around the garden, even if the cost is slightly higher.

I had the kindest man deliver my rock. With precision he avoided my driveways (Yes, I have two.) and the sidewalk (I am behind an elementary school so children flood my sidewalk.). So, a shout out to a man who takes the time to do a job well and make a customer very happy.

We contacted Glover Nurserys Landscape design dept. We talked to Jeff Hansen. He designed a landscape design for us and then promoted a landscape co. Headed by Travis Young to do the work. He planted about a dozenFlowers in our front yard. He planted the flowers in holes only dug as wide as the plant ball (should be twice as wide and left some of the plant ball sticking up 2" above the ground level. He broke two of our sprinker supply lines. He left to get the repair pieces to fix the damage and never returned.I then had Jeff Hansen come by to talk it overand he said it looked like a professional installation job. $4,000.00.

Tree Bark

Tree bark mulch is a popular choice for many gardens. You can find it in different colors and textures. Bark mulch also breaks down slowly, adding nutrients back into your soil over time.

At Glover Nursery we carry both shredded and small chunk bark in a variety of colors.

Garden Compost

Compost is great for your plants and soil health. You can buy it in bulk or make your own at home. It’s full of good stuff that helps your plants grow strong. When you use compost as mulch, it:

  • Feeds your plants
  • Improves soil structure
  • Keeps the ground moist
  • Stops weeds from popping up
Remember to add a fresh layer each year as compost breaks down quickly. It works best in Utah when combined with a layer of bark in the fall.

Decorative Rocks

Rock mulch is a long-lasting option for your garden. It comes in many sizes and colors to fit your style. Here’s a quick look at some pros and cons:

Pros Cons
Doesn’t Blow Away Can heat up in Summer
Lasts for years Doesn’t add nutrients
Looks neat and tidy Can be pricey
Rocks work well in areas where you don’t want to replant often. They’re also great for stopping soil erosion. Take a look at our bulk rock options to see if this is the right fit for your garden.

Cedar Mulch in Bulk

Cedar mulch is a popular choice for its natural ability to repel insects, making it ideal for gardeners looking to protect their plants from pests. Its long-lasting, pleasant aroma and slow decomposition also make cedar mulch an excellent option for low-maintenance landscaping. We don’t carry this at Glovery Nursery yet but stay tuned! Due to it’s popularity we are currently sourcing this and should have bags of Cedar mulch available in 2025.

Red Mulch in Bulk

Red mulch is an eye-catching option that adds warmth and vibrancy to garden beds, making it perfect for highlighting plants and creating a bold landscape design. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, red mulch helps retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, making it both decorative and practical for gardeners. Glover Nursery carries red mulch in bags only.

Black Mulch in Bulk

We carry black mulch in bulk and in bags here at Glover Nursery. Black mulch is a popular choice for adding a sleek, polished look to garden beds and landscaping. Its dark color enhances the contrast of vibrant plants and flowers while providing the same benefits as other mulches, like moisture retention and weed control, making it both functional and visually striking.

Rubber Mulch in Bulk

At Glover Nursery, we do not carry rubber mulch in bulk, as we prioritize the use of natural bark products for their numerous benefits to soil health and plant growth. While rubber mulch is long-lasting, we believe natural options like bark are better for the environment and your garden’s overall well-being.

Bulk Calculator / Mulch Calculator

Want to spruce up your garden but not sure how much mulch to buy? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Many gardeners face this challenge. Luckily, there’s an easy solution: a bulk material calculator.

These handy tools help you determine exactly how much mulch you need for your project. They’re super simple to use. Just plug in a few measurements, and voila! You’ll know how many cubic yards to order.

Here’s what you typically need to enter:

  1. Length of your garden area
  2. Width of the space
  3. The desired depth of mulch
Try using our calculator. It'll save you time, money, and headaches.
Total Yards: 0

Remember, it’s better to get a little extra than not enough. You can always use leftover mulch in other spots around your yard. Plus, buying in bulk often saves you money compared to bagged mulch.
