Groundcover

Groundcover in plant form refers to any low-lying plants with a creeping, spreading habit used to cover sections of ground while requiring minimal maintenance.

Often used in place of turf grass, groundcover is a lovely way to create a low water-use area with a beautiful result.

Many groundcovers send out flowers during the season, adding a touch of whimsy to their sturdy duty of preventing soil erosion.

Typically, groundcover is some form of a low-growing ornamental perennial plant, but some shrubs, like a spreading juniper, can serve this function, as well as ornamental grasses or self-seeding annuals.
